Undergraduate Student

Name: Joshua Day
Home: Muscatine, Iowa
Club involvement: Secretary for Ag Ambassadors, Collegiate FFA member and Ag Ed Club member

Internship: I had an internship with the ISU Muscatine Island Research Farm and Southeast Iowa Research Farm in Crawfordsville. The internship with the ISU Muscatine Island Research Farm was mostly horticultural working with fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, muskmelon, and sweet corn. In working at both farms I helped with planning, planting, watering, weeding and harvesting of the crops. At the Southeast Iowa Research Farm in Crawfordsville I worked at vineyard with table and wine grapes.

Why did you choose agricultural education- teacher certification? I had excellent experiences in my high school Agricultural Education classes and wanted to provide the same opportunities to future students.
What surprised you the most about Iowa State? I was surprised by the fact that most of my classes have been small in size and that most professors are good at learning your name.
What advice do you have for incoming students? I would advise students to come visit campus for EIS Days or Xfer Visit days. Also to ride the CyRide, it is a big part ISU.
How did you transfer from Kirkwood Community College fit with the Department of Agricultural Education & Studies? It has been a wonderful fit with people and class selection. My AgEdS 110 orientation course was a great way to introduce me to Iowa State University. My AgEds 211 pre-student teaching course helped show me that teaching Agricultural Education is really what I wanted to do!
