Learner Outcomes Assessment Portfolio for the Undergraduate Curriculum

 

Outcomes are assessed on a continual basis with data analyzed in conjunction with the revision of the Iowa State University catalog. The primary assessment tools are graduating senior exit interviews and alumni surveys. Each semester, graduating seniors will complete an in-depth questionnaire that addresses the seven primary outcomes and the individualized program outcomes. This same instrument will be sent to alumni two years after they graduate and compared to their initial responses. Results will be provided to the departmental curriculum committee and to faculty and staff to guide program improvement. Additional measures used to assess outcomes are:

• Periodic external evaluations by colleagues from other institutions
• Job placement records and discussions with employers who have hired graduates
• Records from scholarships, fellowships, awards, and honors received by students
• Student performance in internships
• Academic progress
