AgEd Club

Mission: To advance agricultural education through service and leadership while preparing members for a teaching profession or other agricultural careers

The Ag Ed Club is a professional leadership development organization for students with an interest in how education impacts agriculture. The purpose of this organization centers on the development of decision-making, cooperation, and leadership skills. Business meetings are held once a month and include programs on various topics such as agriculture intern experiences, Extension and/or student teaching experiences, commodity groups, government agriculture programs, and international agriculture as well as job opportunities in agriculture. The Agricultural Education Club helps students become better qualified for their careers through participation in professional and social activities, as well as give ample opportunity to get to know fellow future leaders in agriculture.

  • Freshmen/Transfer BBQ- Recruitment Activity

  • National FFA Convention- Volunteer at the ISU booth, promoting the University and College
  • National CDE Judging-Judging Career Development Events for the National FFA

  • Keep Iowa State Beautiful--Cleaning around Curtiss Hall and the Curtiss Hall Parking Lot throughout the year

  • White Elephant Christmas Party- Last meeting of Fall semester, get together, eat, and exchange gifts

  • FFA Sub-District CDE Judging-Travel Around the state of Iowa judging Career Development events for local FFA
  • FFA Proficiency Judging- Judging members’ projects for the Iowa FFA
  • FFA National Chapter Award Judging- Judging National Chapter Awards for the FFA
  • National FFA Week- A week filled with activities centered on FFA and agriculture
  • Annual Banquet- Member/ Family banquet where the club awards are given and we have a guest speaker

  • District CDE Judging- Travel around the state Judging Career Development Events for the Iowa FFA

  • State CDE Judging- Judging Career Development Events at the State level for the Iowa FFA at the Annual State FFA Convention in Des Moines
  • FFA Advisor Hospitality Room-As a club we host a room at the Annual State FFA Convention where advisors can come in and take a break while having a meet and greet with current and future agricultural educators

  • End of Year Meeting-A get together at the end of the year to figure out when we could possibly have meetings or volunteer opportunities in the summer

  • Iowa Association of Agricultural Educators State Conference Collegiate Visit- Club members went to visit the IAAE conference and took part in some of the meetings.

Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow Club

Mission: To provide opportunities for students to gain a diversified experience in agriculture communications

Affiliations: National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow and will seek a close relationship with all communications organizations

Meetings: Determined by officers

The ACT Club purpose is to: (A) encourage interest and relationships in agricultural communications; (B) advance the interchange of ideas among students and faculty and with other ACT chapters; and (C) establish contacts through the organization, along with other communication organizations.

Farm Operations Club

Mission: To provide opportunities for students to gain a diversified experience in agriculture

Affiliations: National Post Secondary Agricultural Student Organization

Number of members: 45

Meetings: 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm

The Farm Op Club gives students many non classroom opportunities for personal growth. In this club students develop leadership skills, enjoy social activities, and build lasting relationships with students and faculty. Business meetings are held once a month and include programs on various topics such as commodity groups, government agriculture programs, production agriculture, as well as job opportunities in agriculture. The Farm Operation Club offers scholarships each year to students within the curriculum who demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership skills, as well as service activities.
