Robert A. Martin, Professor & Chair
Dr. Robert A. Martin, Professor & Chair, Department of Agricultural Education and Studies at Iowa State University, is an agricultural educator with an extensive academic background in teacher and adult education. Prior to his work at Iowa State, Dr. Martin held academic appointments at Purdue University and Pennsylvania State University. He has served as the Director of Graduate Education in Agricultural Education and is currently the Coordinator of the AgComm Program (communication-across-the-curriculum) in the College of Agriculture. Dr. Martin teaches courses in presentation methods, adult education, technology transfer, administration and comparative international education. In addition, Dr. Martin has coordinated and directed the Annual Teacher’s Academy on Agricultural Awareness and he currently assists in conducting a series of workshops on biotechnology education offered by Iowa State University. He conducts research on adult education methods and has conducted numerous workshops focused on understanding the adult learner. His research and teaching interests have included several international adult and extension education projects and experiences in Africa, South East Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
