Key Qualifications:

Dr. Miller is agricultural educator with more than 35 years of experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs and courses to a variety of audiences.  Presently, he serves as Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Agricultural Education and Studies at Iowa State University.  He primarily teaches courses in teaching/learning methods and techniques.  His research is in the use of instructional technology to improve teaching/learning on-campus and through distance education.  He has had short-term international experiences in agricultural education programs in Costa Rica, Mexico, Ukraine, and Georgia. 


1977 – 1980       TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY, College Station, Texas.  Ph.D. degree in vocational education.  Supporting fields in agricultural education and research.  December, 1980.

1975 - 1976        STEPHEN F. AUSTIN STATE UNIVERSITY, Nacogdoches, Texas.  Master of Education, major in secondary education, supporting fields in educational administration and agricultural education.  December, 1976.

1970 - 1974        TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY, College Station, Texas.  Bachelor of Science, major in agricultural education, minor in biology.  (Graduation with honors:  Magna Cum Laude.)  May, 1974.

1980-present      IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY, Ames, Iowa.  Professor (1992-present), Associate Professor (1985-92), Assistant Professor (1980-85). Joint appointment:  Department of Agricultural Education & Studies and the School of Education.  Administrative experience:  Professor-in-charge Ag450 Farm (1992-95), Brenton Center for Agricultural Instruction and Technology Transfer (1995-97), College of Agriculture Off-Campus Programs (1998 to 2009), and Interim Chair (2009 – present).
