Agriculture and Life Sciences Education - Teacher Certification Transfer Peer Mentor Introductions

Welcome to Iowa State!

Jillian JoyceCole ReimanWe are beyond excited to have you in our group for this fall semester!  We know that college is no new thing to you, but the transition to a university can still create quite the culture shock. That’s what we’re here to help out with! We want to make this transition as painless as possible. We are here as a reference to answer any questions you may have at any time.

Like most of you we were both transfers and have encountered many obstacles while transitioning to Iowa State, and AGEDS 110 was very welcoming and helpful to us in getting information out to us. Such as which classes to take the following semesters, what clubs are available, and what the university has to offer.

We know what some of you might be thinking: “Why do I have to go through an introduction course? I’ve been in college before!” We’ve been there. Our goal is to make this course as beneficial to YOU as we can. That means we will be covering ways that the university can benefit you through your time here on campus. We know that it can be a bit overwhelming at points.

Sometimes the last thing on your minds when you’re trying to find your new classes is “What day is the open mic at the MU?”. Some of the information we will give you might seem like overkill at the time, but long term these are the events and skills you’ll need to succeed here at ISU. We don’t want you to just survive, we want you to thrive. We can’t wait to see you in class!

Sincerely, Cole Reiman and Jillian Joyce.
